Love Parks Day
Looking for a way to start your weekend green? Join Seattle Parks Foundation and EarthCorps for a city-wide day of volunteering in Lincoln Park! Grab your work gloves and a friend, and spend the day showing how much you love parks.
Love Parks Day is an opportunity to roll up your sleeves and spend a summer Friday working with other rock star volunteers at one of Seattle’s well loved parks. The event is being organized by Seattle Parks Foundation in partnership with REI, EarthCorps, the Green Seattle Partnership, and Seattle Parks and Recreation.
Lincoln Park is one of the city’s largest and most popular parks. Its beautiful 135 acres are home to ball fields, playgrounds, trails, shoreline, and forest. However, in order to preserve Lincoln’s forests for future generations, we must act now. Invasive species like English ivy and Himalayan blackberry are choking out native vegetation and are bringing early deaths to many of Lincoln’s old trees. Join us as we work to make the forests of Lincoln Park healthier! Our projects for the day will include invasive plant removal and preparing the ground for planting in the fall.
When: Friday, July 26, 2013, 10am-2pm
An inspiring group lunch will be provided to all volunteers. We are grateful to REI, The Seneca Group, and Wells Fargo for their generous support of this event.
